Fisher Island International Cup Recap 2011
Updated: Saturday, May 19, 2012
The Sixteenth Annual International Cup Matches were completed last Sunday February 27th. We had three beautiful days and the golf course was in excellent condition. The matches were as closely contested as I can remember. After Friday’s Alternate Shot matches The U.S. Team led The Nations of the World Team by a score of 7-3. After Saturday’s Better Ball of Partners matches The U.S. Team led 10.5-9.5. Sunday’s singles matches were very close as the final matches reached the back nine. When Marc Peperzak of The Nations of the World Team closed out his match, The Nations Team was guaranteed a tie and would therefore retain possession of The Bernard Darty International Cup. Later when Juergen Lenz rallied to get a half point in his match The Nations Team won the matches outright by a score of 20.5-19.5.
